Brief description:
Alright, what you have read on the plot page is the basic premis of the camp and that is the storyline that your player enters the camp with. Upon arriving at Kaleid, campers are unaware of the conditions and torment that they will be put through behind the walls. A nine foot chain link fence surrounds the entire camp site with a single gate at the front entrance. The gate can be opened by anyone and everyone at any time, but there is no point in running, you would't know where to go. Camp Kaleid in located in the middle of the woods, miles away from any other civilization.
There are no roads leading to the camp, and when the police delivered your character to the site, your character was not allowed to see where they were being driven to. It is told to the "campers" that if they choose to run at any time, they may, but once they leave the gate, the camp is not held responsible for what happens to them. The gate isn't made to keep campers in, it's to keep things out. After all, the woods can be dangerous. The camp is run by councelors, all aged from 21 to 30, with one warden who is supposed to be a complete mystery. The warden is meant to be a character that is known but not existing, and the warden (me) that you will see updating the site and keeping things in order is simply the admin.
Once everyone has applied and been accepted, a blog will be posted telling you who you stay in a cabin with. Unlike most RPGs, we will not tell you who you can be friends with, you have free will. This is a serious RPG with many controversial storylines, they aren't meant to offend anyone. By saying you have read and understand the rules, you are responsible for your own actions and can be thrown out for breaking them. After you have finished reading all of the rules and guidelines, comment this thread with the name of your favorite band or favorite movie. Silly, I know, but it helps us know if you are just skimming.
We will provide some example roles so that you can get the general feel of what we are looking for in the characters. If you like our sample roles and want to play one of them, let us know and we will put a claim on it.
How it works:
Your official cabin assignment will be the one we give you, but you can be friends with whomever you choose.
There will be several characters that you will notice have a banner reading NPC above their avatar, and they will be located in the sidebar on a list of staff members and NPC. This means that they are a non player character. NPCs are used to keep plot running smoothly, and to make sure everyone is playing the way they are supposed to. NPCs are dedicated roleplayers who offer their time to the site and want to be involved in plot. You always respect the NPCs, because they can easily report you can get you banned. They are not made to take away your free will, they just make sure we can get the plot to run as planned.
YOU MUST BE A LITERATE ROLEPLAYER! NO ONE-SENTENCE REPLIES! REPLIES MUST BE A MINIMUM OF 200 WORDS.
Do not powerplay or godmod other characters. Do not force them into situations or assume that they react a certain way. Only the character's creator has control over the character. Do not respond for them, or attempt to play them.
Faces:
You can use whoever you want for a playby as long as they look the correct age for your character. We accept anyone as a playby, even if people choose to play themselves. The catch is, playbys are first come first serve. You will notice that there is a specific section for playby claims on the main page. After you have submitted your application, claim your playby before someone else snatches it up. Each player is only allowed two playby changes if you dislike your look, and once you change, the playby you previously used is up for grabs.
Even when people go inactive, their face is still theirs untils they have been gone two weeks, then people can take it. If you use a particular playby but do not claim it and someone else takes it, you're out of luck. IT MUST BE CLAIMED TO BE PROTECTED!
Disappearances:
If you decide to give up roleplay, let us know and we will just write your character out, that way no one is annoyed that you haven't been posting.
Posting and absense:
Try to post as often as possible and talk to as many people as possible. If you know you are taking an extended leave, tell us in the absense board so that staff members and other players are aware that they will not be getting their replies.
Multiple Characters
Of course you will be allowed to make as many characters as you want, and in fact we do encourage that you make a bunch and tell your friends to join too, but if you're taking on a few, remember to please keep them active. Even if you have characters that you are using and just have one that is inactive, we will be forced to delete it and put its celebrity claim up for grabs. Sorry.
Graphics:
Graphics can pretty much include whatever you want. This is a mature roleplay board, so I am not going to scream and run because you post a picture of someone in their underwear. Keep in mind that your sig represents your character. If you don't want to look like a hussy, don't post dirty pictures. I am aware that there might be younger members on the site, but they are joining at their own risk. I don't mind drug references, I don't mind offensive material, as long as it is IN CHARACTER! If you're using your sig to insult people, I am going to delete it. Avatars can be a maximum of 150x200, and sigs can only be as wide as 500 pixels. If you stretch my page, I am going to stretch you.
150 WIDE BY 200 TALL. THAT MEANS NOT BIGGER. IT WON'T SHOW UP IF YOU MAKE IT BIGGER.
Content:
As I stated before, this is a mature roleplay site. There will be drug references, there will be suicide references, there will be taboos. If any of this offends you, I'm sorry. We are a roleplay group, not preachers. YES, you can have sex if you must, but please leave it to a PG-13 level in the boards. All the raunchy rated R nitty gritty should be done in PMs. No one wants to read your porn. Okay? Okay.
